Do I have to purchase my Holiday Light Show entry ticket online?
We strongly recommend purchasing your ticket online in advance. A ticket and an electronically signed waiver are required before you enter the event. Waivers must be completed before you go through check-in.
What does my entry ticket include?
The Light Show Ticket is a great value and includes entry into the Harpers Ferry Light Show, FREE PARKING, and access to all rest and concession areas.What doesn’t my entry ticket include?
The entry ticket DOES NOT include Snow Riders Passes or Concessions. Snow Riders tickets can be purchased online or at our main building depending on availability.
Opening Day
The light show will be opening on November 21, 2025. Check here for available times.
Will Santa be there?
On select nights Santa will be in our treehouse! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@Harpers Ferry Light Show) to see what nights he’ll be visiting. Due to demand, we can't promise you'll be able to visit with him during your time slot.
Is there a place for kids? Will kids have fun?
The light show is meant to be enjoyed by children of all ages. In addition kids 3 to 8 can enjoy a light-up climbing area filled with fun and interactive things to explore.
Stop by our movie pavilion to watch your favorite holiday movies.
Warm up with hot chocolate, holiday snacks and grab a seat at our outdoor tables (first come, first served) to relax under the lights and stars.
What is Snow Riders?
Snow Riders is a winter snow tubing destination that started in 2023 with our snow tubing hill that covers over 900 feet! Once the sun sets, Downhill Disco starts which features music and an LED light show on the hill!
Is the Harpers Ferry Light Show wheelchair accessible?
There is wheelchair accessible parking and access to our check-in building which has some holiday lights. The trail itself offers limited wheelchair accessibility. Some guests with strollers or wheelchairs are able to navigate parts of the trail, but others may find it challenging. We recommend at least an offroad type wheelchair to access the full display. We’re happy to accommodate whenever possible. However, please note that some areas of the park may be more difficult to reach due to terrain and layout. We’re happy to describe the terrain and help you decide what’s best before you come.
What is the common area like?
We refer to the commons area as the area with communal fire pits, fire pit rentals, seating, and our concession stands. This area is a first come, first serve basis!
How long will it take me to walk the Christmas lights trail?
The main trail will take different people different amounts of time to complete. You may want to take a casual stroll amongst the lights and take a lot of pictures or you may want to quicken your pace - it is up to you. At a minimum, you should expect it to take at least 20 minutes.What should I wear?
This holiday lights event is completely outdoors so dress warmly and be prepared for the weather. The grounds and parking lots can be slippery, uneven and wet. Warm coats, hats, gloves, long pants and sturdy shoes are highly recommended.
Can I bring a stroller to the event and on the trail?
Yes, you can, though please be aware the trail is uneven and subject to weather conditions. There are also a few hills. We recommend an off-road big wheel type stroller.
Are dogs allowed?
For the comfort of all our guests, no dogs are permitted at the Harpers Ferry Light Show with the exception of ADA service animals trained to provide a service for a ADA disability.
What is dated and timed ticketing?
When you buy an entry ticket, you will be required to pick the date you’d like to attend and the time-slot. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early so you can get organized and checked in! We also recommend completing your waiver ahead of time. Your time is valid for 1 hour from your start time on your ticket.
Does everyone need a ticket and waiver?
YES! Every guest will need their own waiver filled out with their legal name and date of birth, and each attendee requires their own ticket for entry. Guests 2 and under are no charge but are not allowed to play on the climbing trail and area which is designed for guests 3 years and older.
2 and Under Tickets
While a ticket for an individual that is two and under is free, they will not be able to participate in any of the children's climbing areas. To participate in any of the children's climbing areas, they will need to be 3 years or older.
Do you offer Fast Passes or VIP Passes?
No, we do not sell any VIP or Fast Passes.Do you accept credit cards at concession and merchandising areas?
Yes, we accept Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay and others onsite for concessions.
Is it lit well enough to see?
Yes, the entire trail is beautifully illuminated, but because it’s a natural surface and environment, there could be darker areas present. We always encourage walking carefully and watching your step.
What happens if it rains or there is bad weather or circumstances that require closure?
We’re open in most weather — the lights look beautiful with a little snow! We only close for severe conditions like heavy rain, ice, or high winds. If that happens, updates will be posted online, and we’ll honor your tickets for another night. We DO NOT offer refunds due to the nature of the event but our tickets are good for a rebooking.
Do you sell food or alcohol?
Yes, we sell a large selection of tasty food at our concessions and restaurant, but alcohol is limited to the Alstadts Ale House above the Snow Ridersmain building. Drugs and open containers of alcohol are not permitted at the Harpers Ferry Light Show.
Can I get a refund?
No, but we can do a rebooking for another date!
When is the best time to come so we can avoid a long wait?
Weekdays!
Is this safe?
It’s a gentle walking experience through lighted trails in the woods. The paths are gravel or mulch and hilly and uneven in some spots, so we encourage everyone to wear sturdy shoes and walk carefully — but the trails are marked, monitored by staff, and meant to be safe and enjoyable for all ages.
Is there a height requirement?
Yes. A child must be at least 36 inches to go snow tubing tandem with a parent or guardian, and at least 42 inches to go down the hill by themselves!
Is there a smaller hill for children?
Yes! We have our kiddie hill for children under the height of 36 inches. These passes depend on availability!
When are Snow Tubing Sessions?
Session times vary by day of the week. Please click on the “Purchase Tickets” link to see the times for the date you are interested in. Sessions start every 1/2 hour and last for 1.5 hours. Evening sessions include the “Downhill Disco” lights and Wednesday feature a 4-hour Unlimited Tubing time!
Do I need to make a reservation?
Yes, we require a reservation! This can be made ahead of time online or in person, depending on availability.
How early should I arrive for my snow tubing session?
We ask you to arrive 45 minutes before your session to allow time for check-in and the safety briefing.
Do I need to sign a snow tubing release form?
Yes, you need to sign a liability release waiver for each guest!
Will you provide the tubes?
Yes, tubes are provided!
Do you make your own snow?
Yes, we have state of the art machines that allow us to make snow in outdoor temperatures as warm as 80 degrees!
Are we allowed to bring large groups snow tubing?
Yes! For groups of 20+ (or any groups that needs any special accommodations), please email groupsales@riverriders.com!
Are dogs allowed?
No, dogs are not allowed on the tubing hill or on the Magic Carpet.
Do you have food and beverage on site?
Yes! We have multiple food and beverage options located on our property!

2. Choco Trailer - specialty hot chocolate trailer located on the side of the snow tubing hill
3. Main Office - sells concessions including snacks, Dippin' Dots, and drinks

Do you sell alcohol?
Yes, alcohol is sold in the Alstadts Ale House located above Snow Riders.
Is there a good place for kids to eat?
Yes! All food and beverage locations have great options for kids to choose from!
